Bangkok: "Chaiyanok" discusses with the Digital Economy Fund, preparing to launch the TH-AI Passport event. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas regarding the future direction of the Digital Economy and Society Fund. The discussions focused on establishing clear objectives for the period between 2027 and 2031, with a presentation of the fund's operations for 2026 and a proposal to revise the long-term plan. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for the end of August.
According to Thai News Agency, the Digital Economy and Society Fund currently holds approximately 2 billion baht. Plans are underway to align the fund's approach with government policies and infrastructure projects, including those related to digital infrastructure and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
The TH-AI Passport project, a significant initiative under this plan, will have its official launch event on August 28th, with registration commencing on August 31st. Eligibility criteria stipulate that applicants must be over 15 years old, verify their identity, and refrain from using the benefit more than once.
In related matters, Chaiyanok addressed the issue of not meeting with the House of Representatives' Committee on the Study of Budget Preparation and Monitoring. He assured that actions were taken within the scope of authority and that the committee members of the TH-AI Passport project, along with permanent civil servants, were directed to support the committee's work.
