Chatchart Undecided on Candidacy for Bangkok Governor

Bangkok: Chatchart Sittipunt has not yet decided on his candidacy for the next Bangkok gubernatorial election. He emphasized that if he chooses to run, he will do so as an independent candidate. Chatchart is currently brainstorming policy ideas to address Bangkok's challenges over the next four years and highlighted the importance of promoting public parks as a key policy to enhance citizens' health.

According to Thai News Agency, Chatchart clarified his intentions regarding his potential run for Bangkok governor, indicating that he would prefer to run independently rather than under a political party. He stressed the necessity of having effective policies to sustain growth amid rapid global changes. Chatchart is considering whether he possesses the right solutions for the city's residents and will only consider running again if he develops a robust policy framework.

Chatchart identified the core issue as increasing the city's efficiency. While acknowledging improvements, he noted that challenges like transparency, corruption, and traffic congestion persist. He questioned how technology can improve the city's efficiency and better serve the public. He also emphasized that legal amendments should accompany technological and service improvements.

Regarding his team, Chatchart mentioned that he would retain the same team if no issues arise. However, he stated that the decision depends on the outcome of the general election and the political landscape. During a recent run, he coincidentally met Mr. Yotsanu Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, prompting speculation about a potential run under the Pheu Thai banner, which Chatchart dismissed as a fluke encounter.

Chatchart advocated for all political parties to promote exercise and the development of public parks, which he considers as crucial as hospitals for preventative health measures. He discussed with Mr. Yotsanu the need for infrastructure development to provide accessible public parks to reduce healthcare costs and promote better health.
