Chiang Mai University Showcases Student Startups in Real Market Expansion

Chiang mai: Chiang Mai University (CMU) is demonstrating the potential of young entrepreneurs by highlighting three student-led startups that have successfully transitioned into the real market. These startups, nurtured through the 'builds CMU Startup and Entrepreneurial Program,' showcase the innovative spirit and business acumen of CMU students.

According to Thai News Agency, the 'builds CMU Startup and Entrepreneurial Program' was launched on August 16, 2023, as part of CMU's initiative to create a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. The program supports students in transforming their ideas and academic knowledge into viable businesses. It has rapidly evolved into a pivotal platform for budding entrepreneurs, boasting over 5,200 members and more than 4,300 participants. The program has facilitated the establishment of 14 Startup Clubs, organized over 260 activities, and aided in the creation of more than 20 companies with a combined revenue exceeding 23.2 million baht.

The program's success is evident in the growth of student-led businesses such as 'MunMae,' 'SkinNavi,' and 'MechCode Robotech.' These ventures illustrate the diverse range of business ideas emerging from CMU's entrepreneurial environment. 'MunMae' has transformed a family snack business into a popular brand known for its 'thin and crispy' potato chips, appealing to a broad audience of students, tourists, and locals. Meanwhile, 'SkinNavi' leverages AI technology to offer personalized skincare recommendations, addressing the common issue of consumers selecting products based on trends rather than individual skin needs.

'MechCode Robotech' exemplifies the application of Deep Tech and engineering know-how to provide AI, IoT, and robotics solutions for industry challenges. This startup focuses on designing robot systems, IoT development, and application programming, showcasing the innovative potential of university-acquired skills in the real business world.

The 'builds CMU Startup and Entrepreneurial Program' ensures that students receive comprehensive support, from idea inception to market testing and mentoring. By connecting students with business networks, investors, and funding sources from various sectors, CMU ensures that student projects have the opportunity to grow beyond the classroom and contribute positively to the economy and society.
