Bangkok: Coach Kiattipong Ratchatagriangrai is preparing to send promising young athletes to gain experience in the 2026 CV League, with the ultimate goal of securing qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games. The 18-player Thai national volleyball team and coaching staff arrived back at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 9:25 PM last night after completing the final leg of the 2026 Women's Volleyball Nations League in Osaka, Japan. They were welcomed by Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang, President of the Volleyball Association of Thailand, and a large number of volleyball fans.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai women's team secured one victory in the final leg of the tournament, defeating Brazil 3-0. Across all three legs of the tournament, the team played 12 matches, winning 3 and losing 9, accumulating 12 points and finishing 14th in the standings. This performance secured their place in next season's VNL.
Coach Kiattipong, also known as "Coach Ott," revealed his preparation plan, dividing the players into two groups. He intends to send promising young players to gain experience in the first leg of the 2026 CV League in Vietnam. Afterward, they will return for the second leg in Chiang Mai. These players will receive approximately five days of rest to recover from injuries before reuniting for training next week.
The Thai women's volleyball team is set to compete in the first leg of the 2026 CV League in Vietnam from July 31st to August 2nd. Following this, they will return to Chiang Mai, Thailand, for the second leg from August 7th to 9th. The team aims for a top-three finish in the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in Tianjin, China, to secure qualification for the World Championship and the 2028 Olympics. After these competitions, they will travel to Japan for a training camp in preparation for the 2026 Asian Games.
