Commerce Ministry campaigns to expand ‘elephant pants’ by not buying, selling, or using fakes

Bangkok, Deputy Minister of Commerce led the Department of Intellectual Property along with partner agencies to prevent intellectual property violations to organize the activity 'Let's Get Right by Soft Power' to develop 'Elephant Pants' into pants with provincial identity patterns and to walk to campaign to raise awareness of respect for intellectual property rights, to create public and private sector participation, to not buy, not sell, and not use counterfeit products. Mr. Napintorn Srisanpang, Deputy Minister of Commerce, revealed that the government places importance on driving the economic system with the concept of developing a creative economy by using tangible and intangible cultural assets to further develop and create value for products or services. In addition, the government also places importance on seriously and continuously preventing and suppressing intellectual property violations in order to build confidence in trading partners and protect consumers from dangers resulting from purchasing or consuming counterfeit products that do not meet standards and may pose risks to life and property safety. The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Intellectual Property, has organized the activity 'Let's Get Right by Soft Power', Thai fashion with provincial identity patterns, integrating cooperation with partner agencies, including the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department, the Economic Crime Suppression Division, and the Pathumwan Metropolitan Police Station, to create knowledge and understanding of the benefits of intellectual property, which will promote domestic trade and investment, as well as protect consumers from dangers that may arise from consuming counterfeit products that do not meet standards. In addition, the establishment of the Intellectual Property Violation Prevention and Suppression Operation Center at MBK Center is another collaboration between the public and private sectors that demonstrates Thailand's determination in th is matter. However, the activities include product exhibitions, fashion shows, 'Thai Fashion, Provincial Identity Patterns,' intellectual property consulting services, and a 'No Buy, No Sell, No Use of Counterfeit Goods' campaign to raise awareness and understanding about the protection and respect of intellectual property rights among traders, entrepreneurs, and the public who attended the event. Therefore, the Ministry of Commerce would like to thank all government and private sector partners who participated in organizing the 'Let's Get Right by Soft Power' event, with the hope that the event will inspire creators to further develop their local identities and create added value, as well as promote the trade and investment atmosphere and create awareness among the public about the dangers and impacts of buying, using, and selling counterfeit goods.
