Committee on Political Development to Address Leaked LINE Messages Allegations

Bangkok: The Committee on Political Development is preparing to discuss the leaked LINE message "Help the blue team" tomorrow. Meanwhile, Phakamon urged the agencies invited to provide clarification, after the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Election Commission (EC), and the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration failed to respond, sarcastically asking if they had no intention of addressing the allegations.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pakamon Nunanan, a party-list MP from the People's Party and chair of the House of Representatives' Committee on Political Development, Mass Media, and Public Participation, stated that the committee meeting on June 11th at 9:30 AM will consider the leaked LINE messages containing the phrase "Help the money." The agencies invited to provide clarification include the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Election Commission (EC), and the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior. It has been specified that if the Director-General is unavailable, a representative from the Department may attend. No agency has responded yet, but the committee believes that at least one agency should provide an explanation.

Ms. Pakamon emphasized, "I confirm that in our clarification to the committee, we are not predetermined to make a judgment or to believe any particular side. However, it must be acknowledged that since the leaked chat messages regarding 'Help the Money' came out, the entire nation has been raising questions. And you, as the person being questioned, don't you intend to address those accusations?" She added that, even if there is no personal desire to address the accusations, there should be an effort to respect the civil servants across the 76 provinces of the country. "I believe that over 90% of civil servants nationwide are good people. Therefore, the Director-General or a representative of the Department of Provincial Administration coming to clarify to the committee is at least a sign of respect in protecting their subordinates. At the very least, don't let the public lose even more faith in civil servants."
