Chiang mai: Chiang Mai Province is counting down to its World Heritage status. The working group held a meeting to prepare for welcoming experts.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Bowornwet Roongrujee, Chairman of the Working Group for Accelerating Chiang Mai's World Heritage Status, Mr. Rattapol Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Pichai Lertpongadisorn, President of the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, along with heads of government departments and relevant sectors, held a meeting to prepare for the visit of Mr. Sharif Shams Immon, an expert from the International Council on Monuments and Sites, prior to the technical assessment of Chiang Mai's nomination as a World Heritage City. The meeting included a review of in-depth information, rehearsal of assessment questions, and preparation for the assessment.
The technical assessment site visit by experts is scheduled for August 4-8. The site survey will cover eight major cultural heritage sites in Chiang Mai: Wat Ched Yot (Royal Temple), Wat Umong (Suan Phutthatham), Wat Suan Dok (Royal Temple), Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Sing Woramahawihan, Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan, and the Chiang Mai city moat and city walls. This rehearsal is a crucial step in integrating cooperation from all sectors to ensure that the information presented to international experts is accurate, complete, and truly reflects Chiang Mai's readiness as a World Heritage Site.
