Crowds Gather at Sanam Luang to Honor Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s Passing

Bangkok: People have begun to occupy areas around Sanam Luang and the Grand Palace. Today at 5:30 PM, a reporter visited the area in front of the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine at Sanam Luang and met Ms. Suwanna Kennamthiang, 70, who was waiting to greet the royal procession. She shared her reaction to the news, saying she was heartbroken when she heard that Princess Bajrakitiyabha had passed away. Ms. Suwanna recounted how a friend informed her of the sad news while she was cooking, prompting her to quickly prepare and make her way to the area from her son's home in Nong Khaem, Bangkok. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Suwanna expressed her grief and her deep admiration for the princess, mentioning that she had previously met Her Royal Highness and even held her hand. She emphasized her continued disbelief and sorrow over the princess's passing. Ms. Suwanna urged others who wish to pay their respects to arrive early to secure a spot for the royal funeral procession, which is scheduled to take place at approxi mately 3:00 PM. She encouraged people to come a day earlier to ensure they can find a suitable place to honor the late princess.
