Decoy Girl Case: Police Urgently Investigating Shooting Incident in Thung Khru

Thung Khru: Police are accelerating their investigation into a shocking incident involving a young woman who allegedly acted as a decoy, leading to a shooting in the Thung Khru area. Authorities have identified and located the woman, currently in Samut Prakan Province, and are questioning the injured individual as they work to uncover the motive behind the attack.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred when Mr. Suthikiat, also known as Aing, arranged to meet a young woman he had been chatting with on Facebook. The meeting took place in Soi Charoen Suk, near the Kanchanaphisek-Thung Khru Expressway, between 01.00 and 02.00 a.m. Mr. Phongsakorn, or New, accompanied him as a friend. Upon arrival, a group of men emerged from a nearby banana grove and shot Mr. Phongsakorn in the leg. Mr. Suthikiat managed to escape the scene. It is believed that the woman was a decoy who lured them to the location.

Pol. Col. Chumphon Sinsiripong, Superintendent of Thung Kru Police Station, stated that investigations are ongoing. The police have not found any criminal records for the woman. They are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the movements of the decoy group and the victims before and after the incident. Mr. Phongsakorn will be questioned again to clarify the events, and details about the attackers remain unknown until the woman can provide more information.

Investigators have already spoken with Mr. Suthikiat, and further questioning of Mr. Phongsakorn will occur once he is discharged from the hospital. Mr. Suthikiat revealed he had been communicating with the woman for only a few days before she suggested meeting at her house, sending her location. Trusting her, he invited Mr. Phongsakorn to accompany him. Upon arrival, they were ambushed, prompting Mr. Suthikiat to flee.

There are speculations about a possible drug connection, but since drug-related issues do not fall under Thung Kru Police Station's jurisdiction, further detailed questioning is necessary. Friends of the injured person have not provided significant information.

Local residents reported hearing gunshots in the middle of the night but were too afraid to approach the scene, suspecting that the assailants were not from the area as they did not recognize any unfamiliar individuals earlier that evening.

The chief of Thung Kru Metropolitan Police Station revealed that CCTV footage shows the woman arriving at the scene on a motorcycle with the perpetrators at around 2:00 a.m. They set the meeting for 2:30 a.m. and then left towards Soi Suk Sawat 90. The motive remains unclear, but it is noted that Mr. Suthikiat had recently provided information to the police regarding a drug trafficking network in the area prior to the woman's contact.

The police are questioning all involved parties and pursuing legal action. The perpetrators face charges of joint attempted murder and joint assault, while gun-related offenses include illegal possession and public discharge without cause.
