Bangkok: The Minister of Defence confirmed that Cambodia will extradite "Uncle Yot" (a nickname for a Cambodian national) back to Thailand. There will be no exchange of conditions for opening border crossings; this is a cooperation between the government, the military, and agencies in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, along with Lieutenant General Veerayut Rakasilp, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, confirmed that Cambodia's extradition of "Uncle Yot" to Thailand was without any conditions and was not a precondition for reopening border crossings. This was a collaborative effort between the government, the military, and local agencies, particularly the 2nd Army Area. This is considered a starting point in reducing conflict and increasing mutual trust. However, our military capabilities have not been diminished; we remain ready to protect our sovereignty. If the situation continues to improve, we will utilize bilateral mechanisms in meetings, starting with the Joint Border Committee (JBC), the General Border Committee (GBC), and the Regional Border Committee (RBC), in that order.
