Bangkok: Delta supports the development of Thailand's infrastructure to support AI, urging Thailand to urgently address bottlenecks in highly skilled labor, infrastructure, data centers, policies, and the creation of an ecosystem to attract investors.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, delivered a keynote address at the 2026 Future Industries Summit, organized by Delta Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited, on accelerating Thailand's competitiveness through the evolution of AI and electric energy. He emphasized that industrial leadership today is not judged solely on production volume, but also on sustainability. While Thailand boasts high export figures, the actual benefits are not deeply penetrating the Thai supply chain, particularly affecting SMEs, the backbone of the nation. Mr. Silpa-archa stressed the necessity for industrial reform that requires collaboration from all sectors, with the government ensuring a conducive environment, the industrial sector fostering innovation, and educational institutions advancing knowledge. Additionally, he invited Delta to explore investments in AI Agriculture, highlighting Thailand's potential as a global safe haven in the face of climate-induced food import relian ce.
Mr. Victor Cheng, CEO of Delta Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited, highlighted Thailand's readiness to benefit from rapidly advancing technology and power systems, backed by a robust ecosystem, favorable business policies, and a growing pool of skilled professionals. However, he pointed out the increasing pressure on Thailand's energy infrastructure due to the rising demand for data processing and electric power systems. AI technologies like Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Predictive Analytics are pivotal but face challenges related to power sources, a concern shared globally. Cheng also emphasized issues such as community impact and the energy consumption of expanding data centers. He proposed microgrid solutions integrating clean energy sources into energy storage systems as a sustainable approach. Cheng called for urgent reinforcement in human resources, domestic infrastructure, data centers, and clear policies to support AI technology, advocating for government-promoted infrastructure develo pment and incentives to attract technology industry investors, including in semiconductors and software.
