Bangkok: Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth has instructed the Provincial Waterworks Authority to alleviate public hardship by reducing water meter installation fees by 15%.
According to Thai News Agency, the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) is implementing this 15% reduction in new residential water connection fees following the directive from Mr. Jetseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden of living costs and ensure that citizens have access to standard tap water services.
Mr. Jetseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior (M.3), emphasized that the Ministry of Interior is prioritizing improvements in quality of life by focusing on access to quality public utilities. As such, he has instructed the PWA to take concrete measures to assist the public by reducing the fee for installing new residential water meters by 15%. This move seeks to mitigate the impact of rising living costs and reduce financial burdens during a period of volatile energy costs globally. This measure is also seen as a crucial step in supporting public access to clean and safe water, which is fundamental for sustainable quality of life development.
Mr. Chakpong Khamchan, Governor of the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA), stated that the 15% discount on water meter installation fees applies to new residential water users installing 1/2-inch meters within 10 meters of the main water supply pipe. This offer excludes internal house piping and covers all 234 PWA branches nationwide. As of May 2026, there have been 8,065 applications for new meter installations under this measure, amounting to 24.68 million baht, including VAT. Each customer benefits from a discount of 540 baht, resulting in total assistance exceeding 4,355,100 baht. This reflects the success of the cost-saving measure, and the PWA intends to continue improving service quality while offering ongoing support to the public.
Interested individuals can apply for the new meter installation under this 15% residential water meter installation fee discount from today until July 31, 2026, at all 234 PWA branches nationwide. Alternatively, applications can be submitted online through the PWA website, the PWA Plus Life application, and LINE Official @PWAThailand.
