Bangkok: The Deputy Minister of Interior has announced the successful completion of impeachment proceedings against local government officials involved in corruption. The Deputy Minister confirmed that all officials implicated in the scandal have been removed from their positions, with no individuals filing appeals or lawsuits despite the extensive review of over 1,500 names.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Minister Worasit Liengprasit provided an update on the situation, highlighting that today marked the deadline for the impeachment process of civil servants who were found guilty of cheating in local government exams. He reported that the process of removing these individuals, identified by their abnormal exam scores, has been finalized. Out of the 5,925 individuals whose scores were flagged, 3,864 had already been appointed and have now been removed. The remaining individuals had not yet been appointed, which negated the need for their removal. It was confirmed that no further appointments will be made in the upcoming round, ensuring a 100% completion of the removal process.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister mentioned that around 1,500 individuals had reviewed their scores, and none raised objections or filed complaints after viewing the evidence. There have also been no appeals from civil servants whose positions were revoked, and no one has sought intervention from the Administrative Court. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the process is proceeding as planned, with no disruptions reported.
