Deputy Prime Minister Yotsanun Wongsawat Oversees Flood Response in Nan Province

Pua: Yotsanun Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, is on the ground in Pua, Nan province, managing the flood response efforts. Assigned by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, he is working alongside Mr. Jetset Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, to monitor the situation, visit shelters, and provide support to flood victims in the area. They are receiving updates from Mr. Chainarong Wongyai, Governor of Nan Province, and other officials.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yotsanun has instructed all relevant units to maintain a 24-hour watch on the water levels, particularly focusing on the influx from upstream areas and tributaries. He has emphasized the importance of being prepared with personnel, equipment, and supplies to offer immediate assistance. Evacuation plans are being expedited for high-risk areas, especially those along the Nan River, to ensure the safety of residents. Special attention is being given to vulnerable groups, ensuring shelters are stocked with essential supplies.

Additionally, efforts are in place to synchronize water data and public warnings to ensure that the information provided is accurate and timely. Damage assessments are being prioritized to facilitate recovery once the flooding subsides.

Several districts, including Mueang Nan, Pua, Tha Wang Pha, and Santisuk, remain under close watch as water levels, although receding in certain areas, continue to pose a threat due to incoming water from upstream. Station N64 has predicted a peak water level around 9:00 PM, while Station N1 in Nan city reports levels approximately 10 centimeters above the Phu Phiang bank, necessitating continued vigilance.

In Tha Wang Pha district, nine sub-districts are affected, with ongoing monitoring for potential water runoff. The municipality is reinforcing flood barriers with sandbags, and the local hospital has prepared emergency areas and additional sandbags. Nine shelters have been established in the district, with evacuation plans ready for implementation.

The 38th Military District has set up a field kitchen at Wat Ban Prang in Pua District, providing meals to disaster victims, and is assisting with rescue operations and evacuations.
