Khon kaen: The abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, Phra Khru Adulsaranithet, remains steadfast in his belief that "Auntie Da" will not relent, even in the face of comprehensive evidence regarding the ongoing land dispute. He has announced that his future communications will focus solely on Buddhist teachings. Amidst this tension, the Khon Kaen Land Department has moved forward with a legal complaint against the estate manager concerning the application for a replacement land title deed.
According to Thai News Agency, the situation at Wat Pa Adulyaram in Khon Kaen Municipality is being closely monitored by reporters. Despite the conflict, the temple maintains a serene atmosphere, with a steady stream of devotees visiting to show their support for Phra Khru Adulsaranithet. The abbot, appearing in good spirits, has been engaging warmly with visitors and advising them to remain calm, asserting that he himself is not feeling stressed.
In response to the situation, villagers and temple followers have erected signs within the temple grounds to prohibit the sale of goods, aligning with Phra Khru Adulsaranithet's concerns about the suitability of such activities. The abbot has also publicly stated that he and the temple committee will refrain from further commenting on the land dispute, believing the matter to be resolved with the issuance of the land title deed and the completion of all necessary procedures.
In a related development, a complaint has been filed at the Khon Kaen City Police Station against Aunt Da and her associates, accusing them of violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code. The complaint includes evidence in the form of a video clip showing Aunt Da and others obstructing the entrance to Wat Pa Adulyaram with concrete pipes on August 10th. The incident reportedly involved inappropriate references to the monarchy used to intimidate and pressure residents of the temple community.
Further complicating the situation, the Khon Kaen Provincial Land Office has initiated legal action against Mrs. Buakhai, the executor of Mr. Hiang Phimsri's estate, over her request for a replacement land title deed. The application process was halted when the abbot presented the original deed, prompting the land office to cancel the issuance of the replacement deed after determining that the original was not lost. The land office has clarified that the cancellation is an administrative decision, allowing for a 15-day appeal period, which as of yet, has not been utilized.
