Dog Causes Motorcycle Accident on Lampang-Ngao Superhighway, Injures Mother and Son

Lampang: A dog ran in front of a motorcycle, causing it to overturn. The metal kickstand pierced the mother's calf, leaving her motionless in the middle of the road. Her son sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, the hospital director happened to be passing by and helped clear her airway, narrowly saving her life.

According to Thai News Agency, a dramatic incident occurred on the Lampang-Ngao Superhighway. Rescue workers and an ambulance from Lampang Hospital responded to a scene where a motorcycle had fallen in the middle of the road and a 52-year-old woman was found injured. The motorcycle's kickstand was lodged deep in her calf, rendering her immobile. Her 10-year-old son sustained minor injuries to his arm.

Rescue workers had to cut the spring of the motorcycle kickstand and carefully use a metal cutter to remove part of the kickstand, leaving the metal embedded in the injured person's calf to prevent excessive bleeding and tissue damage, before urgently transporting them to Lampang Hospital. The injured woman's son recounted that while riding pillion on the motorcycle with his mother, a dog suddenly ran in front of them, causing his mother to brake hard, resulting in the motorcycle falling. He sustained arm injuries while his mother was impaled in the calf by the kickstand.

At the time of the incident, Dr. Chuleeporn Nontasooti, director of Koh Kha Hospital, happened to be driving by and stopped to help open the airway of the unconscious mother, enabling her to breathe again without the need for CPR. She stayed to care for her until the rescue team arrived. Following the incident, investigators from the Lampang City Police Station inspected the scene and will question those involved in detail to determine the cause of the accident.
