Phang nga: A dolphin carcass was found washed ashore on Koh Kho Khao island in Phang Nga province. The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
According to Thai News Agency, a large dolphin carcass was found stranded on Thung Tuek beach, Moo 4, Koh Kho Khao Subdistrict, Takua Pa District, Phang Nga Province. Officials from the Marine and Coastal Resources Office Region 6, together with the Mangrove Forest Conservation Center Region 10, responded after being contacted by the Sirindhorn Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center in Phuket.
Initial findings revealed the dolphin measured approximately 210 centimeters in length. The carcass, though in a state of decomposition, showed no external wounds. To preserve it for further examination, the carcass was placed on ice before being transferred to the Sirindhorn Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center. The autopsy aims to determine the cause of death and support future conservation efforts for rare marine animals.
