DSI detains female suspect who hired illegal surrogate mothers

DSI detains woman hired for illegal surrogate mothers, detains her after returning to Thailand, found to be involved in transnational crime networks As per the Division of Foreign Affairs and International Crimes, together with the 3rd Operations Unit of the Investigation, Tracing and Intelligence Center, Ms. Wilai, the accused in Special Case No. 236/2565 on 19 July 2567 while traveling into Thailand, was sent to the Special Case Investigation Officer for investigation together with the public prosecutor assigned by the Attorney General. Today (21 July 2567), the Special Case Investigation Officer team took the accused to the Criminal Court for detention and filed an objection to bail. The special case was a result of Ms. Wilai being the 7th accused in Special Case No. 236/2565, a case of a gang that illegally procures Thai women to be hired as surrogate mothers for foreign employers, which is a transnational crime organization. The accused fled the country and did not meet the special case investigators until the Criminal Court approved an arrest warrant to arrest her. The Department of Special Investigation has been investigating and tracking her down until it was discovered that the accused fled to work in South Korea and was traveling to Thailand, until they were able to arrest her this time. The operation to track down and arrest suspects with arrest warrants in special cases is in accordance with the order of Pol. Maj. Gen. Yuthana Phraedam, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, Acting Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, who assigned the Investigation, Tracking and Intelligence Center, which is an agency under his command, to set up a task force to track down and arrest suspects with arrest warrants, especially warrants that are nearing their statute of limitations, in order to bring the accused who are still at large into the justice process.
