Mu si: A dwarf elephant from Khao Yai National Park has become a well-known figure in the Mu Si area as it continues to forage within the community, showing no inclination to return to its forest home. The elephant, affectionately named "Phlai Khae," has been seen patrolling the streets, prompting local efforts to guide it back to the park.
According to Thai News Agency, the situation has drawn significant attention after a Facebook user, Praphas Langleeklang, shared a video depicting the elephant's interactions within the community. Praphas, a volunteer committed to managing wild elephants in Khao Yai, highlighted the elephant's presence near Ban Tha Chang, a notable tourist spot in Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
To prevent any potential disturbances, Khao Yai National Park officials, along with a team of volunteers, are actively monitoring the elephant's movements. They are using vehicles to ensure the safety of both tourists and local residents while persistently working to guide Phlai Khae back to the national park. This particular elephant is known to the locals as it frequently ventures out of the park in search of food, forming an unusual bond with the community.
