Bangkok: The Department of Business Development has introduced the e-Accountant Plus system to address loopholes in dummy accounts and business nominee accounts. The system aims to enhance the management, search, and verification of accountants' information in real-time, allowing businesses to legally verify and select accountants, thereby increasing transparency and the credibility of financial statements.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, announced the launch of this system, which was developed using modern digital technology. The e-Accountant Plus system connects data with the Federation of Accounting Professions in real-time and links with relevant government databases such as the Department of Provincial Administration, the Corporate Registration System, and the Department of Business Development's financial statement submission system. This integration ensures accurate, up-to-date information, reduces redundancy, and minimizes errors in data entry by accountants.
The system includes integrated accountant data management and a search and verification system for accountants with current information, enabling businesses to verify and hire accountants legally and effectively. It also enhances accounting professional knowledge and implements robust data security measures, which increases transparency and the reliability of financial statements, reflecting the true financial position of businesses and building investor confidence.
As of December 31, 2025, there are over 967,000 legal entities required to keep accounting records under the Accounting Act B.E. 2543, while there are 81,240 accountants nationwide as of January 15, 2026. This number is expected to grow with business expansion. The e-Accountant Plus database is a crucial tool in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of accountant oversight.
The e-Accountant Plus system has been available since January 1, 2026, aligning with the enforcement of the Department's announcement regarding the qualifications and conditions for accountants in 2025. As of January 15, 2026, 45,527 accountants have accessed the system, with a total of 169,181 system visits, indicating a positive response from accountants and the business sector.
Simultaneously, the Department of Business Development, in collaboration with eight accounting firm partners, has declared its intention to 'refuse registration, provide accounting services, and support shady financing' to curb businesses that evade or violate the law, particularly those using nominees, fake accounts, and fraudulent registrations for foreigners, which negatively impacts economic stability and the country's trade and investment image.
