Bangkok: Chicken eggs are now priced at 3.60 baht per egg, as supply and demand begin to balance.
According to Thai News Agency, four egg-laying chicken farmer cooperatives have confirmed that the recommended farm-gate price for mixed chicken eggs remains at 3.60 baht per egg, or 108 baht per tray, as production and consumer demand are starting to align.
The network of egg-laying chicken cooperatives, including the Paedriew Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, the Chonburi Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, the Chiang Mai-Lamphun Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, and the Mae Nam Noi Basin Egg-Laying Chicken Cooperative Limited, issued a notice confirming the recommended farm-gate price of mixed eggs at 3.60 baht per egg for eggs weighing 20.5 kilograms or more per 100 eggs. They assured that any price changes will be communicated accordingly.
The cooperative network noted that although feed and other production costs remain high, the egg market, which had been experiencing fluctuations, is beginning to stabilize. Therefore, they are maintaining the recommended price as a guideline for cooperative members and egg farmers.
The network previously adjusted the recommended farm-gate price of mixed chicken eggs from 3.20 baht per egg to 3.40 baht per egg on March 17, 2026. It was then increased to 3.60 baht per egg starting March 28, 2026, resulting in a total increase of 40 satang per egg, or 12 baht per tray, compared to the period before the price adjustment.
In April and May, the egg market was affected by school closures, leading to decreased consumer demand. Additionally, extremely hot weather caused reduced egg production and smaller egg sizes, decreasing the supply of mixed-size eggs to the market and causing periodic price fluctuations.
Currently, with the onset of the rainy season and cooler temperatures, coupled with the start of the new school term, egg production and consumer demand are becoming more aligned. This is leading to a balance between supply and demand in the market and is likely to help stabilize egg prices.
