Bangkok: Ekaniti Nitithanprapas, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, has underscored the necessity of ensuring that state welfare cards are allocated to individuals who are genuinely in need. This statement comes in response to public grievances regarding the current conditions of the welfare card, which disqualify parents from benefits if their children use the card for tax deductions to support them.
According to Thai News Agency, Ekaniti has directed the Ministry of Finance to reevaluate these conditions. The focus is on the requirement that parents lose their benefits under certain tax deduction scenarios. Ekaniti stressed that the Ministry of Finance is actively reviewing these stipulations with a commitment to surveying eligibility. The aim is to guarantee that assistance reaches those who need it most, initiating a survey through the Ministry of Interior to identify citizens who are not currently covered by the welfare card program due to outdated eligibility criteria.
Ekaniti also mentioned plans to clarify the conditions surrounding the welfare card in the future, ensuring that the criteria align with the objective of supporting those in genuine need. The emphasis remains on refining the welfare system to better serve its intended recipients.
