Bangkok: Ekniti Nitithanprapha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced the successful results of his visit to China alongside Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The visit culminated in agreements with four leading Chinese companies in the electric vehicle (EV) and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors, promising investments over 70 billion baht in Thailand, set to generate more than 30,000 jobs.
According to Thai News Agency, the roadshow in Chengdu was highlighted by one-on-one discussions with prominent companies such as Changan, Innolight, eOptolink, and Xiaomi. These engagements aimed to attract investment in modern industries, particularly those focusing on AI and advanced automotive manufacturing. The Thai government encouraged these corporations to expand their operations to support local SMEs and enhance employment through technology transfer and increased research and development activities in Thailand.
Mr. Ekniti emphasized the strategic importance of AI and the shifting global focus towards new industries and clean energy. He expressed confidence that Thailand's conducive environment and robust infrastructure would continue to draw investors, fostering growth and generating substantial economic benefits for Thai businesses and citizens.
