Election Commission Orders Ban on Local Election Poll Dissemination Until Election Day

Bangkok: The Election Commission has issued a directive to halt the dissemination and sharing of "local election poll results" with immediate effect, continuing until 5 PM on election day.

According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has emphasized that the release of election poll results for Bangkok and Pattaya during the final stages of the campaign is strictly prohibited. Violators of this directive will face significant penalties. The ECT has issued a stern reminder to all election candidates, political parties, media outlets, opinion poll organizers, and the general public to refrain from disclosing, forwarding, sharing, or disseminating opinion poll results related to the elections for the Bangkok Governor, Bangkok City Council members, Pattaya Mayor, and Pattaya City Council members until the specified deadline of 5:00 PM on June 28, 2026.

This measure aims to prevent any actions that could adversely affect the election atmosphere and the fairness of political competition. Violations of this directive for election campaigning purposes during the prohibited period may constitute a breach of the Local Council and Local Administrator Election Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and its amendments, as well as other related laws. Offenders could face imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both. Additionally, the EC is urging the public to exercise their right to vote on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at their designated polling stations, to ensure a fair, transparent, and unilateral election process.
