Bangkok: A trailer truck carrying eucalyptus wood caused a dramatic accident on Highway 304 when it dropped its load in front of a passenger car, leading to the car braking sharply and plunging into the median.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred when a strap holding eucalyptus logs on the trailer truck snapped, causing a log to fall directly in front of a sedan. The driver of the sedan, who was attempting to overtake the truck, was forced to slam on the brakes. This sudden maneuver resulted in the car running over the logs, hitting traffic cones, and eventually plunging into the median. Dashcam footage from the victim's car captured the harrowing moments, including the driver's screams as they narrowly avoided colliding with a utility pole and a large tree.
The accident took place around 6:00 PM on July 31st, with Sri Mahapho Police Station promptly receiving reports of the incident. The police coordinated efforts with volunteers from the Thammarat Maneerat Mangkon Prachinburi rescue team to administer first aid and transport the injured driver to a nearby hospital. Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered a white Hino truck loaded with eucalyptus wood, with broken straps visible on the driver's side, and logs scattered across the road.
Initial investigations have been undertaken by officers at the Sri Mahapho Police Station, who inspected the site for evidence. Both the truck driver and the sedan driver have been summoned for questioning as part of the investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the accident. Charges will be filed against the responsible parties once the investigation is concluded.
