Bangkok: The families of six police officers from the Police Aviation Division, who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash, have commenced the solemn process of receiving the officers’ bodies to conduct religious ceremonies. This somber event took place at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Police General Hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, the families, accompanied by fellow officers, arrived early at the Institute of Forensic Medicine on Henri Dunant Road. A specially prepared waiting room on the third floor was made available for the families, ensuring privacy from the media during this difficult time.
The schedule for the day was meticulously planned, beginning with the release of the bodies from the Institute at 2:00 p.m. Relatives then escorted the bodies to Wat Trithatthep, where they arrived by 3:00 p.m. An honor guard stood ready to receive them, marking the start of the ceremonial proceedings.
At 4:00 p.m., a water pouring ceremony was conducted, followed by a royal water pouring ceremony at 5:00 p.m. This was presided over by Police General Kittirat Panphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police. The day concluded with the chanting of Abhidhamma prayers at 6:00 p.m.
The families will hold a chanting ceremony at Wat Trithatthep for one night. Following this, the bodies will be transported to the officers’ hometowns, where further religious rites will be observed, allowing families and communities to pay their final respects.
