Fancy durian sticky rice making competition to generate additional income

Surat Thani, Surat Thani organizes a fancy durian sticky rice competition at the Mobile Agricultural Clinic event to help farmers generate additional income. At the multipurpose pavilion of Ban Pak Lao, Village No. 3, Takuk Tai Subdistrict, Wipawadi District, Surat Thani Province, a mobile agricultural clinic under royal patronage was organized, with government agencies such as the district chief, provincial agricultural officers, district agricultural officers, local leaders, and villagers joining in organizing the event. There were exhibitions from government agencies at the event. The highlight of the event is the fancy sticky rice durian competition, with 5 teams of 3 people per team. It takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to make sticky rice durian, starting from scraping coconut and cooking the sticky rice. The sticky rice used is Khao Niew Khiao Ngu. As for the durian, any durian can be used, but most people use local durian or native durian because it gives a more delicious smell and taste. Importantly, it is cheaper than other types of durian. As for the steamed or cooked sticky rice, black sticky rice and white sticky rice are used, but pandan leaves and butterfly pea flowers are added to give a beautiful color and smell or taste from the ingredients, making it look delicious. Some people make sticky rice with durian filling and pour durian juice over it again, giving it a fragrant smell. The most popular sticky rice with durian menu is from the Chiang Khwan Housewives Farmers' Group, which uses butterfly pea sticky rice and pandan sticky rice with durian that has had its flesh removed, standing out prominently, and then topped with coconut milk. Mrs. Mayures Thongsuk, an academic at the Surat Thani Provincial Agricultural Office, said that the sticky rice durian competition this time had a panel of judges consisting of housewives, staff from the sub-district health promotion hospital, and agricultural officers, totaling 5 people. The judging criteria included hygiene, taste, plate decoration, contestants' attire, and cooking time, totaling 100 points. The results of the judging were: 1st place went to the Chiew Khwan Housewives Farmers' Group, 2nd place went to the 5th place went to the Chong Inthanin Housewives Farmers' Group, and 3rd place went to the Sao Noi Housewives Farmers' Group, Takuk Tai. The other 2 teams received honorable mentions.
