Father in Disbelief Over Daughter’s Death, Blames Close Family Members

Bangkok: The father of "Nong Angun," a 7-year-old girl, received her body amidst a sorrowful atmosphere, struggling to comprehend the involvement of close family members in her tragic death.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Oom (pseudonym), aged 36, collected his daughter's body from the Forensic Medicine Institute at the Police Hospital. He obtained the autopsy results to transport her body back to their hometown in Kanchanaburi Province for funeral rites. The atmosphere at the institute was filled with grief as Mr. Oom expressed disbelief over the possibility of a family member's involvement in the tragedy. He recalled only minor disagreements within the family, doubting they could lead to such a serious incident.

Mr. Oom revealed that Girl A (pseudonym), his stepdaughter whom he had raised since she was two years old, confessed to the crime. However, his wife had spoken to Girl A, who maintained she did nothing wrong. Despite the confession, Mr. Oom found it hard to believe Girl A or Mr. Pae (pseudonym), who had always behaved well, could be responsible. The police investigation revealed that Girl A had posted on her phone about the implications of killing someone, suggesting a fight over a phone's Wi-Fi signal might have been the trigger.

Volunteer staff from the Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation transported Nong Angun's body to Wat Lijia in Kanchanaburi Province for funeral rites. The Buddhist chanting ceremony is set to last three days before cremation. As Nong Angun's body was loaded into the van, her father emotionally called out to her to come back home.

In Kanchanaburi Province, preparations for Nong Angun's return were underway, with headmasters, teachers, and students contributing to the funeral arrangements. The atmosphere was somber as they awaited the return of the body from Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pae and Girl A were taken to Thong Pha Phum Provincial Court to face charges. Girl A is accused of "intentional homicide," while Mr. Pae faces charges related to concealing the crime. Bail was denied, and they were transferred to the Kanchanaburi Juvenile Detention Center. The police also took Mr. Pae for a crime reenactment at two locations, gathering a large crowd of local residents.

Further police interrogation led to confessions from both Girl A and Mr. Pae. On May 30th, an argument between Girl A and Nong Angun escalated, resulting in Girl A using a fertilizer sack to suffocate Nong Angun. With Nong Angun motionless, they enlisted Mr. Pae's help to conceal the body in a wardrobe and later disposed of it in a remote plantation.

Despite the forensic evidence, the mother of Nong Angun remains in disbelief about the involvement of her son and brother in the murder. However, she acknowledges the findings, including the fingerprint analysis linking them to the crime scene.
