Federal Reserve Chairman Discusses Global Economic Stability Amid Geopolitical Tensions

Washington:The global economy has shown resilience and stability despite ongoing geopolitical tensions, according to Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh. Speaking at the IMF-World Bank 2026 conference, Warsh expressed surprise at the stability, even as central banks worldwide implement tighter monetary policies to combat inflation.

According to Thai News Agency, Warsh highlighted that rising prices are a significant concern, with inflation posing a challenge that requires synchronized monetary tightening across nations. In the United States, the Federal Reserve recently raised its policy interest rate as part of efforts to maintain price stability.

While Warsh did not indicate if further interest rate hikes were forthcoming, he has consistently avoided making predictions about future policy decisions since taking office in May. This cautious approach has led financial markets to speculate that the Fed may delay another interest rate increase until December, despite recent inflation indicators exceeding expectations.

Warsh also touched on other issues, such as the impact of artificial intelligence and the importance of maintaining financial stability. He was optimistic about the U.S. economy, attributing its recovery to a significant rise in investment, particularly in areas beyond AI. He emphasized the unique momentum of the U.S. economy compared to other parts of the world.

Regarding the global economy, Warsh noted its unexpected resilience in the face of worldwide geopolitical tensions, describing this as a positive development. He expressed optimism that the United States will emerge stronger from current challenges, with a sustainable economy capable of leading global growth.
