Bang Khun Thian: A fire broke out in a four-story commercial building in Soi Sakae Ngam 3, Bang Khun Thian District. One person was found dead, a 39-year-old Lao woman who is the sister-in-law of the owner of the house.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 2:09 a.m. The building, a business selling T-shirts and underwear, saw the fire start on the first floor and the mezzanine. Highly flammable products in the premises caused the fire to spread quickly.
Firefighters responded promptly, connecting water hoses and entering the building to extinguish the flames. It was determined that five people resided there, four of whom managed to escape. Among the escapees was a woman who sustained injuries to both hands. Tragically, one person remained unaccounted for until officers discovered her deceased on the second floor. The victim was identified as Ms. Duang, a 39-year-old of Lao nationality. It required an hour for the firefighters to quell the blaze.
Ms. Chantanee, the homeowner, recounted seeing the fire originate from the power lines in front of the house before it infiltrated the building. At that moment, five individuals were present, including her sister-in-law who perished. Among those who escaped were Chantanee’s mother and two grandchildren, with the mother suffering a hand injury.
Investigators plan to collaborate with forensic officers to examine the site further to determine the fire’s cause. The Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers have been tasked with transporting the body for an initial autopsy at Siriraj Hospital’s Forensic Medicine Institute. Following this, the body will be released to the family for religious ceremonies.
