At approximately 1:00 PM, a fire broke out in a four-story commercial building on Phutthamonthon Sai 4 Road in Om Noi Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. The fire started on the ground floor, where a moo jum restaurant was located, and quickly spread to a nearby air conditioning repair shop. Eight people were occupied at the time of the incident. Five managed to escape, but three were injured. A mother and two children-a 33-year-old woman, a 7-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old girl-were also trapped inside. Firefighters spent over an hour dousing the flames before bringing the blaze under control. Upon entering the building, the bodies of the mother and three children were found dead on the second floor.
According to Thai News Agency, relatives of the deceased revealed that at the time of the incident, everyone was sleeping in their rented room. A neighbor banged on the door and called out to them, allowing some to escape just in time. However, the mother and three children were asleep and did not hear the call, resulting in their tragic deaths. A neighbor in an adjacent room observed smoke coming from the tightly closed door and attempted to alert those inside. Despite efforts to use a fire extinguisher, the fire quickly escalated from the area next to the water heater downstairs and spread rapidly upstairs.
