In areas near the river, two people were swept away.
According to Thai News Agency, the victim said that it was raining heavily and then a flood came in the middle of the night. There was a loud noise of water and wood, so he ran out of the house first without taking anything out and shouted for his uncle and aunt to hurry up and get out of the house. But his uncle and aunt were rushing to get out of the house. At that time, the water was only knee-high, but not long after, the water came up with great force until it quickly rose and swept his uncle and aunt away with the water right in front of them.
Mr. Wiwat Inthaiwong, Governor of Lamphun Province, along with relevant agencies, went to inspect the damage and find ways to help the villagers. They found 8 houses damaged and 2 people died. He admitted that this was an unexpected disaster that would occur in the dry season. Most of the water comes in the rainy season, September-October of every year. However, it has never risen so high and caused this much damage. It is likely the most severe in 70-80 years.
