Uthai Thani:Flash floods from Mae Wong National Park have caused significant destruction after breaching a flood barrier along the Tak Daed River. The resulting collapse inundated the economic zone of the Sawang Arem sub-district municipality, leading to severe damage to roads and homes.
According to Thai News Agency, the district chief of Sawang Arom conducted an inspection of the affected areas, including the home of an elderly blind couple. Their residence was severely damaged, with the house tilting and concrete walls cracking, necessitating their evacuation due to the rising waters.
Initial estimates indicate that repairs to the damaged flood barrier are expected to cost at least 100 million baht. Additionally, the damage to agricultural crops and roads in the surrounding area is estimated to be no less than 80 million baht.
