Chiang rai: Flash floods from the Huai Nam Ngam and Huai Khun Mae Pong streams have inundated two villages in Doi Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. Soldiers have mobilized to assist residents in moving belongings to higher ground and distributing drinking water to alleviate initial hardship.
According to Thai News Agency, at 4:00 AM today (August 4th), flash floods from the Huai Nam Ngam and Huai Khun Mae Pong streams caused water to overflow and flood houses in Ban Don Ngam, Village No. 4, and Ban Mai Don Ngam, Village No. 11, Chok Chai Subdistrict, Doi Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. This has caused hardship for residents, as most were unable to move their belongings in time.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Relief Center of Mobile Development Unit 35 dispatched personnel to urgently assist villagers, helping to move belongings to higher ground and distributing drinking water to alleviate their initial suffering.
The latest reports indicate that in Ban Don Ngam, Village No. 4, water levels have receded and are beginning to return to normal. However, in Ban Mai Don Ngam, Village No. 11, floodwaters remain high at approximately 50-80 centimeters, but the water level is expected to continue decreasing if no further water inflow occurs.
Officials continue to monitor the situation in downstream areas, including Villages 7, 8, 1, and 12 in Chokchai Subdistrict, Doi Luang District, and are prepared with personnel and equipment to provide immediate assistance to the public.
