Chiang Mai: Heavy rain throughout Chiang Mai Province has resulted in flash floods and the closure of three waterfalls due to safety concerns. The head of Doi Suthep National Park has ordered the closure of Mae Sa Waterfall, Tad Mok Waterfall in Mae Rim District, and Mok Fa Waterfall in Mae Taeng District. These measures are in response to rising water levels and the fast-flowing, muddy red current which poses a danger to tourists.
According to Thai News Agency, the heavy rain also impacted Chiang Mai Municipality, with floodwaters from Doi Suthep inundating streams, drains, and Khlong Khu Wai. This overflow resulted in flooding across the Sri Ping Muang, Fa Mai, and Kad Kom communities. Water levels have been recorded at 30-50 centimeters, making it impossible for small cars to pass and affecting residents, businesses, and students commuting to school. In response, Chiang Mai Municipality has initiated urgent water pumping efforts to mitigate the flooding.
