Prachinburi:Severe flooding has deeply impacted Prachinburi province, particularly in Dong Phra Ram subdistrict, Mueang Prachinburi district, where floodwaters rapidly inundated a pig farm. The water reached heights of 50-80 centimeters, leaving the farm owner unable to evacuate in time, resulting in the loss of over 2,000 pigs.
According to Thai News Agency, provincial livestock officials have mobilized more than 50 personnel, along with large trucks and boats from the disaster prevention and relief unit, to urgently transport the dead pigs for burial. This action aims to prevent the spread of disease and minimize the impact on nearby communities. The cleanup operation is expected to take 1-2 days.
The pig farm owner had previously sought assistance from the Dong Phra Ram Subdistrict Administrative Organization before the water level rose. However, the combination of flooded terrain, strong currents, and insufficient personnel resulted in the failure to evacuate the pigs, leading to significant losses. The current water level inside the farm still stands at approximately 50-80 centimeters, complicating the ongoing operations.
