Bangkok: Floods and landslides in India have killed at least 25 people. Continuous heavy rains have triggered widespread flooding and landslides across northern and northeastern India over the weekend, leaving at least 25 dead, local officials said on Monday, adding that more heavy rains are expected in the coming days.
According to Thai News Agency, in the Indian-administered part of Kashmir, flash floods have swept through the Punj and Rajori districts, causing extensive damage to construction machinery, vehicles, and shops. Roads are also impassable due to mud and debris.
The quality control manager of the damaged construction site in the Punj district revealed that the damage included new tires, machinery parts, and thousands of bags of cement. Meanwhile, residents in the Rajori district have called on both the central government in New Delhi and local governments to urgently assist the people in relocating and restoring their livelihoods.
The floods have caused widespread damage across both districts, including collapsed buildings, vehicles buried under mudslides, and the complete destruction of residents' livelihoods. Local residents have begun cleaning up the debris and assessing the damage.
