Floods Persist in Phoeng Phaeng, Residents Struggle

Phoeng Phaeng:Residents of the Phoeng Phaeng Subdistrict in the Pa Mok District of Ang Thong Province are enduring ongoing hardships due to floodwaters that continue to exceed 1 meter in height. Despite some areas showing signs of receding waters, the situation remains challenging for the local community.

According to Thai News Agency, the floodwaters have forced residents to rely primarily on boats for transportation, as cars and motorcycles are not viable options for navigating the submerged roads. The community has also started the arduous task of cleaning their homes, removing mud stains left by the flood.

In Ang Thong Province, the flooding has impacted six districts, 44 subdistricts, 194 villages, and 2,254 households. While some residents with two-story homes have moved to higher floors for safety, others have begun cleaning efforts to prevent the mud from drying and becoming more difficult to manage.

Efforts to manage the flood situation are ongoing, with the Royal Irrigation Department announcing a gradual reduction in water discharge from the Chao Phraya Dam. The flow will decrease from 2,000 to 1,900 cubic meters per second by October 12, 2026, to help alleviate the flooding issues.
