New delhi: The Minister of Foreign Affairs visited India to promote cooperation in various areas, including the situation in Myanmar, moving forward to jointly solve the problem of cybercrime, and inviting India to attend a meeting of global partners to combat online fraud crimes in mid-December.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeaw, Minister of Foreign Affairs, described his visit to the Republic of India from November 30 to December 1, 2025, as significant because India is a key partner for Thailand and plays a key role in the regional and international arena. He discussed a wide range of topics, including promoting bilateral cooperation, trade, and investment. India also has technological and innovation potential, which Thailand needs to drive its economy forward. He emphasized that Thailand has significant regional ties with India, including several frameworks linking Southeast Asia and South Asia. Thailand is also a key player in this cooperation framework with India.
Furthermore, Thailand and India share a shared concern for the regional situation, particularly the situation in Myanmar. We share a shared desire for peace in Myanmar, and with the upcoming elections, we will use this opportunity to exchange views with India on their views on the situation in Myanmar. In terms of diplomacy, Thailand and Myanmar will cooperate in ways beyond ASEAN efforts. Thailand and India share a border with Myanmar, and how they will coordinate their stances and work together.
Regarding India’s important role on the global stage, many are concerned about the current global situation, including fluctuations in previously upheld global norms and the erosion of various rules, particularly on trade. Discussions are needed to discuss how we can jointly uphold international rules, as it is crucial for all countries to uphold rules in the conduct of international affairs.
We will also discuss addressing cybercrime with India, which is another key issue during this visit, as Indians are being lured into these schemes. This is evident in the large number of Indians fleeing Myanmar to Thailand. India is deeply concerned about this issue.
