Bangkok: Forensic investigators have successfully identified 28 victims of the tragic 'Na Ladprao' fire, while efforts continue to identify the remaining two bodies and contact their families. A police spokesperson confirmed that an expedited investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the devastating incident.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, is overseeing the support provided to the families affected by the fire at the Lat Phrao Beer Garden entertainment venue. The Forensic Science Institute at the Police Hospital, led by Police Major General Wirun Suphasingh Siripreecha, has received a total of 30 bodies. While 28 victims have been identified, 23 bodies have already been claimed by their families. Efforts are ongoing to locate the relatives of the two unidentified victims. The spokesperson emphasized the critical role of the Forensic Science Institute in confirming the number of fatalities.
The investigation process, as ordered by the National Police Chief, involves a comprehensive examination by forensic officers and investigators. This includes analyzing forensic evidence and witness testimonies, as well as inspecting building modifications, electrical systems, interior decorations, table and chair arrangements, and emergency exits that may have impacted evacuation routes. The true cause of the fire will be determined based on these findings, along with recovered CCTV footage from the time of the incident.
Authorities have assured that the case will be handled with transparency and thoroughness. The investigation results will be crucial in developing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. In response to reports about individuals in military uniforms at the scene, investigators plan to question all those present during the Prime Minister's inspection. If it is found that anyone impersonated government officials or provided false information, legal action will be pursued.
