Chiang Rai: Samart Jenchaijitwanich, the former deputy spokesman of the Palang Pracharath Party, has been apprehended near Wat Huai Plakang in Chiang Rai Province. The arrest was executed by officers from the Ban Du Police Station, who intercepted him on a roadside. The authorities are currently coordinating his transfer to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI). According to Thai News Agency, the arrest follows a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to launder money, dated November 24, 2024. Investigators from the DSI were informed about the arrest by the Ban Du Police Station officers. At present, Samart is under the initial detention of the Superintendent of Ban Du Police Station, as preparations are underway for his transfer to the DSI for further legal proceedings.
