Government Allocates Over 300 Million Baht in Sixth Flood Relief Fund Transfer to Southern Provinces

Bangkok: The government has transferred over three hundred million baht in flood relief funds to the South for the sixth time. The funds have been allocated to Songkhla and Trang provinces, benefiting 40,935 households.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed progress on the disbursement of lump-sum compensation to flood victims during the rainy season of 2025. The compensation is provided in the form of a lump-sum payment of 9,000 baht per household. The payment covers four scenarios, including damage to permanent residences and prolonged flooding conditions affecting normal living situations.

Today marks the sixth round of relief payments, with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and the Government Savings Bank overseeing the transfer of funds totaling 368,577,000 baht. The funds are distributed to 40,947 households in Songkhla Province, including 15,913 households in Hat Yai District, and 6 households in Trang Province. The payments are facilitated through PromptPay accounts linked to national ID numbers, starting at 1:00 PM.

Currently, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and the Government Savings Bank have transferred aid money to flood victims five times from December 1-5, 2015, across eight southern provinces. These provinces include Songkhla, Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Satun, and Surat Thani. The total aid distributed amounts to 5,513,157,000 baht, covering 612,573 households. However, transfers to 8,657 households were unsuccessful due to irregular accounts, prompting relevant agencies to expedite compensation payments.
