Bangkok: The government has announced a postponement of its scheduled cabinet meeting initially planned for June. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, disclosed that numerous project proposals require meticulous evaluation.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that during the Cabinet meeting, reports were received from the National Economic and Social Development Council and the Budget Bureau. These reports highlighted a significant number of projects from both public and private sectors submitted for consideration at the Cabinet meeting intended to take place outside Bangkok, originally scheduled for June 8-9, 2026. Given that the meeting encompasses multiple provinces, additional time is deemed necessary to thoroughly assess, review, and validate the project details to ensure they provide maximum public benefit and align with the government's budgetary constraints.
Furthermore, the Deputy Spokesperson noted the substantial interest from relevant agencies in the forthcoming Cabinet meeting, necessitating a postponement of approximately one month. This delay aims to provide all agencies with adequate time to prepare comprehensive information and ensure seamless integration of their work.
Upon the Prime Minister's return on May 27, 2026, further discussions are expected to take place to officially establish the timeline for the mobile cabinet meeting. The government is committed to proceeding with caution, maintaining transparency, and prioritizing the best interests of the public in the affected areas.
