Government Housing Bank Disburses Over 180 Billion Baht in Loans to Boost Economy

Bangkok:The Government Housing Bank (GHB) has announced its performance for the first nine months of 2026, highlighting the disbursement of over 180 billion baht in new loans aimed at stimulating the economy. This effort aligns with GHB's commitment to support government policies focused on reducing public expenses.

According to Thai News Agency, GHB revealed that it disbursed a total of 186,476 million baht in new loans, resulting in 175,038 new home ownership accounts for Thai citizens. This marks an 8.28% increase compared to the same period last year and represents 75.56% of the bank's target for the year. GHB is confident of reaching its full-year disbursement target of 246,795 million baht by the end of 2026.

Dr. Mahatthana Ampornphisit, Managing Director of GHB, emphasized the bank's evolution into a "Beyond Housing Bank," pledging to be a trusted partner in the housing industry. Throughout the third quarter of 2026, GHB focused on supporting homeownership with new loans, particularly targeting low- and middle-income earners. Moreover, the bank's effective debt management has resulted in a decrease in non-performing loans to 5.49% of total loans, down from 5.81% in the previous year.

GHB also introduced the 'Home Loan for Everyone PLUS' project to further support homeownership for low- and middle-income earners. With an allocation of 50 billion baht, the project offers loans for housing priced at no more than 3 million baht, featuring an initial interest rate of 2.60% per year for the first 1-2 years and a maximum loan term of 40 years. This initiative is expected to alleviate the financial burden on borrowers and enhance their chances of owning a home.

In addition to housing loans, GHB is advancing environmental protection efforts through its Solar for the Public Sector program. This initiative, as per the Cabinet resolution of October 27, 2026, provides loans for installing solar rooftop systems. Applicants can receive a loan of up to 90,000 baht with a special interest rate of 2.50% per year for seven years, aiding in energy cost reduction and promoting a sustainable society in Thailand.
