Government Savings Bank Explores Senior Housing Options with Visit to SINDORA LIVING in Nanjing

Nanjing: The Government Savings Bank has recently conducted a visit to SINDORA LIVING in Nanjing, China, as part of its efforts to explore senior housing solutions that cater to the needs of retired members seeking a home.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Songpol Chivapanyarot, Secretary-General of the Government Pension Fund (GPF), disclosed that the GPF has been investigating the development of ‘Senior Housing’ to provide accommodation for retirees who prefer not to own property. This initiative aims to offer members a place to live until their passing, with the facility being renovated for new occupants thereafter. Unlike nursing homes, GPF’s Senior Housing will cater to independent retirees who can engage in activities like shopping and sports without the burden of property ownership. The decision to invest in this project is expected by 2568.

Prior to the Senior Housing Project, the GSB studied the SINDORA LIVING model in Nanjing. Unlike conventional nursing homes, SINDORA LIVING houses residents as young as 40, providing them the freedom to engage in external activities. The facility offers activities like singing and cognitive exercises, and basic healthcare services, meeting the needs of its elderly residents. It spans approximately 7-8 rai, housing 400 beds, and currently hosts 80 regular and 20 day residents. With a monthly service fee of 15,000 yuan (approximately 69,000 baht), the facility includes food, accommodation, and daily expenses. It has gained popularity in China, especially in the context of the country’s historical one-child policy, which has left many families struggling to care for aging parents while fulfilling other familial responsibilities.
