Haiti Alters World Cup Jerseys After FIFA Regulation Breach

Port-au-prince: The Haiti national football team has made modifications to their World Cup jerseys after the initial design was found to breach FIFA regulations on political expression.

According to Thai News Agency, the original jerseys featured an illustration of the Battle of Verti¨res from November 18, 1803, symbolizing a crucial moment in Haiti's pursuit of independence. The design also included a red and white flag, which notably represents Poland, not Haiti. This inclusion pays homage to Polish soldiers who joined Haitian forces during their fight for independence against French colonial rule.

Saeta, the clothing manufacturer responsible for the jerseys, announced that the design had been changed following FIFA's notification about the violation. The alteration ensures Haiti's compliance with FIFA's strict rules on political symbols in sports attire.

Haiti, placed in Group C, is set to begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on June 13th, facing Scotland. This match marks Haiti's return to the World Cup finals after a 52-year hiatus.
