Heavy Clashes Erupt at Thai-Cambodian Border: Ta Kwai and Chong An Ma Witness Intense Fighting

Bangkok: The 2nd Army Area has reported significant fighting on the Thai-Cambodian border, particularly at Ta Kwai and Chong An Ma. Thailand has successfully advanced to control key areas, significantly reducing the effectiveness of Cambodia’s BM-21 air raid systems. The army confirmed that Thailand maintains control over the battle with high troop morale.

According to Thai News Agency, a report from the 2nd Army Area Command detailed the situation as of December 15, 2025, noting that Cambodia initiated fire on Thai territory from 02:13 to 22:00. In Ubon Ratchathani province, the Chong Bok battle line remained mostly calm, with only sporadic drone activity detected in the evening. Thai forces conducted aerial patrols and maintained a vigilant watch without major clashes.

The An Ma Pass front experienced intense combat, with continuous offensive operations by Thai forces aimed at capturing strategic objectives. Both sides engaged in exchanges of rifle, artillery, and mortar fire, with Thai forces ultimately occupying their targets and deploying reinforcements.

In Sisaket Province, the battle zone saw Cambodia authorizing the firing of RM-70 missiles targeting areas such as Pha Mor E Daeng and others. Thai forces responded by destroying a Cambodian vehicle parking lot at the Svay Chrum intersection and conducting airstrikes on the 371st Support Battalion base and the Cambodian Border Patrol Police headquarters.

Sporadic clashes with small arms fire occurred in the Pha Mor E Daeng-Huai Ta Maria area, while at Phu Makheua – Don Aow, Thai forces successfully destroyed Cambodian military signal towers. Thailand employed artillery intermittently to counter Cambodian artillery.

In Surin province, Thai forces maintained an offensive strategy along the Chong Chom – Chong Preo – Chong Raya front, using drones and artillery to strike Cambodian positions, inflicting heavy losses. The front line at Khana was secured by Thai forces, with reinforced security measures in place.

The Ta Kwai area witnessed continuous heavy fire from Cambodian machine guns and BM-21s, with Thai forces seizing key targets and controlling the area. Cambodian troops launched BM-21 missiles at military bases and employed FPV drones for attacks.

On the Chong Krang front, both sides exchanged intermittent artillery fire, with BM-21 shells landing in the area. Thai forces occupied Ta Kwai Temple despite ongoing Cambodian attacks with BM-21 weaponry.

In Buriram province, exchanges of gunfire and mortar fire were reported at the Chong Sae Takoo checkpoint. The border situation remains marked by sporadic clashes, with both sides utilizing heavy weaponry and drones in their strategies.
