Pattaya: A 36-year-old man heroically drove a pickup truck loaded with burning old paint cans out of a warehouse to prevent a potential disaster. Pattaya firefighters responded quickly, extinguishing the blaze within 10 minutes. Remarkably, the warehouse remained unscathed, though the pickup truck was completely destroyed.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred yesterday at a warehouse along Sukhumvit Road in Na Kluea Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Pattaya City firefighters, along with Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation personnel, arrived promptly with water trucks and managed to control the fire swiftly.
The driver, Mr. Uthai, explained that he had been hired to transport old paint cans stored in the warehouse. During the loading process, sparks ignited, rapidly causing a fire to spread to the truck's rear. Reacting quickly, he drove the truck to an open area, preventing the fire from spreading to the warehouse.
Bang Lamung police investigated the scene and confirmed that only the pickup truck suffered damage, while the warehouse remained intact. The initial investigation suggests that friction between paint cans during transport might have caused sparks, igniting paint vapors and resulting in the fire. A more detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause.
