Hotel Housekeeper and Cashier Arrested in Child Trafficking Operation

Kanchanaburi: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has apprehended a hotel housekeeper and a cashier for their alleged involvement in trafficking a 14-year-old girl to hotel guests for prostitution. This arrest is part of an extensive operation named "Hotel Watch," which aims to crack down on human trafficking within the hospitality sector.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation was spearheaded by the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) under the command of Pol. Lt. Gen. Natthasak Chaowanasai, with Pol. Lt. Col. Pansawadee Kloyrayap leading the arresting team. The suspects, identified as Mr. Banjob, 57, and Ms. Sasa, 43, were taken into custody at a hotel in Ban Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang Kanchanaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province. Both individuals were wanted under arrest warrants issued by the Kanchanaburi Provincial Court on June 11, 2026, for charges related to human trafficking.

Investigations by Division 5 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division revealed that hotel staff, including cashiers and housekeepers, were involved in soliciting and advertising minors under 15 years old to provide sexual services to hotel guests. It was found that when guests expressed interest in these illegal services, hotel staff would facilitate the meetings between the minor and the customer, while also collecting a commission of 400-500 baht per transaction. The police gathered sufficient evidence to obtain warrants for prosecution against the involved parties.

The arrests were executed after police officers received information about the suspects' presence near the hotel. Upon arrival, officers identified Mr. Banjob and Ms. Sasa, who matched the descriptions in the arrest warrants. After confirming their identities, the suspects were informed of the warrants and the charges against them. They acknowledged the contents of the warrants and admitted to being the named individuals. Both suspects confessed to the charges during initial questioning and were made aware of their rights as arrested persons.
