House Committee to Hold Fourth Meeting on Kamolsak Assassination Attempt

Narathiwat:Bangkok The House Committee on Legal Affairs is preparing to convene its fourth meeting to address the attempted assassination of Kamolsak Leewamae. The committee has called upon the Royal Thai Navy to provide a detailed report concerning the mysterious circumstances surrounding official firearms involved in the case.

According to Thai News Agency, the House Committee on Legal Affairs will also engage the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and mobile phone companies to trace phone numbers that may lead to the mastermind behind the assassination attempt. A court hearing for the case is scheduled for early next year.

Mr. Ramadhan Panjor, a Member of Parliament from the People's Party and Secretary of the House Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, shared updates on the investigation into the attempt on Mr. Kamolsak's life. The case, which has captured significant public attention, is currently in court. The House intends to closely monitor the proceedings.

The committee's upcoming meeting will include invitations to key agencies such as the Prime Minister, the Royal Thai Police, the Royal Thai Navy, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, and mobile phone service providers. This meeting aims to gather further information and ensure transparency in the investigation.

A focal point of the investigation is the firearm used in the incident. A fact-finding committee within the Navy, led by the Chief of Naval Staff, has completed a report after discovering that the firearm's name and serial number match those of decommissioned Navy weapons. The House Committee has requested an official submission of this report from the Navy.

Additionally, the committee seeks to verify suspicious telephone connections linked to the perpetrators and masterminds of the attack through discussions with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, and network providers.

The assassination attempt occurred on March 20, 2026, in front of Kamolsak's residence in Bajoh District, Narathiwat Province, and has been under investigation for over 227 days. The incident remains a significant concern in the southern border provinces. Key evidence, including the confiscated firearm and communication links, are crucial for the transparency of both parliamentary and judicial processes. Reporters are expected to continue following developments in this high-profile case.
